Developing a digital arts competition for children with Tourettes Syndrome

Web Design | Web Development

Tourettes Action are a leading charity that offer support to people of all ages who suffer from Tourettes Syndrome.

The charity wanted to celebrate the life of their chief executive who sadly passed away in 2021. TACA (Tourettes Action Creativity Awards) was set up in memory of the chief executive and offer children with Tourettes Syndrome a chance to showcase their creative skills on a national platform.

Pine worked closely with the charity to develop an online awards website where children could submit their entries and show off their work.

Celebrating creativity

The TACA website offered a chance to create something new. Something that had never been done before.

Digital competitions are quite hard to achieve. But with a good team around us, myself and the charity achieved an accessible, simple and effective platform that allowed children to submit their entries.

Introducing mentors into the project who also suffer from TS has been a vital part of the project. The mentors not only offer support and guidance to those submitting their entries to TACA, but they are also acting as 'judges' to whittle down the submissions and find the overall winners to showcase on the website.

Overall, the TACA website has not been without it's challenges, but together as a team we've produced an incredibly effective platform that will run yearly.
